​Beginning in CPG Marketing, Alan then assisted the launch of Michael Page Marketing in the UK, helping them mature and evolve from one office in the UK to five, and from contingent recruitment to retained search & selection across UK & EMEA.  He spent another 4-years at a boutique assessment center supporting the development and selection of C-level executives with the development of what is now termed Performance Management Systems.  Upon arriving in the US, Alan worked at leading boutique and first-tier global search firms such as RR&B, DHR International and Korn Ferry, where he worked as part of the Life Science practice and launched KF Futurestep.​

Next, he went "client-side" working to build and lead internal executive recruitment functions at large $$B world-class organizations such as The Hartford, TD Bank and Teva Pharmaceuticals.  Here, he's led teams of executive recruiters working across the enterprise, both domestically and internationally as well as directly engaged in a full "book of business" while leading the most sensitive & confidential searches.  ​

Finally, Alan created Penfold Executive Search to deliver high-quality search work in a boutique environment, affording his clients personal attention and excellence.
